65th Filmfare Awards 2020 will be in Guwahati- Hosted by Assam government and Times of India Group

Filmfare Awards 2020, for the first time ever the high-status award function will be hosted outside Mumbai. Assam government has signed a MoU with the Times Group to host the extravagant Bollywood event in Guwahati next. It is now confirmed officially.

The first Filmfare Awards function was held at Mumbai Metro Cinema Hall on March 21 in 1954. Do Bigha Zameen was adjudged the best film at the first function. The Filmfare Statuette is generally made of bronze — its height is 46.5 cm and it weighs around five kg.

At an event held today in Guwahati, Vineet Jain (Managing Director, Bennett, Coleman and Company Limited) and Deepak Lamba (CEO, Worldwide Media Pvt. Ltd) were present along with Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal, Chandan Brahma (Minister of Tourism, Government of Assam), Jayanta Malla Baruah (Chairman, Assam Tourism Development Corporation) and Dr M. Angamuthu (IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Tourism Department, Government of Assam) to sign the MOU and announce that the Assam Government will  host the next edition of the award show in Guwahati.

The Filmfare Awards will be a delight factor for  Guwahati . Localities will  get a chance to see their desired Bollywood stars take the stage at the prestigious award show. The government is also optimistic that the event will increase tourism and benefit the Assamese film industry.

Prices of tickets might be too costly because the Filmfare Awards 2020 ceremony will be held in Guwahati for the first time. The minimum price for tickets sold in the last award ceremony held in Mumbai was Rs 10,000.

AS per ATDC Chairman Jayanta Malla Barua, main aim to conduct award function in Assam is to promote assam tourism. Also mentioned that the State will give all logistics to the organizer, the event will emphasize Assam as one of the best tourism destinations in India.
